Senior Staff Software Engineer, Front End (Purchasing Experience)

We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead technical excellence across all Purchasing frontend engineering. You will collaborate with engineering leaders, develop and implement technical strategies, and work closely with stakeholders to build stable, performant solutions that delight users. You will shape best practices, guide architectural decisions, and ensure successful delivery of key initiatives. This role requires high technical ability, leadership, project management skills, strong cross-functional communication, and a customer-first mindset.

This role primarily focuses on Checkout, Affirm’s core consumer-facing functionality, leading the frontend teams responsible for this experience.

What You'll Do

• Build and drive technical strategy for all frontend teams in checkout
• Collaborate with stakeholders to champion technical excellence aligned with business goals
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and scalable development
• Deliver reliable and high-performance user experiences
• Influence product decisions and scope, balancing technical tradeoffs to maximize customer value
• Design, implement, and extend core platform components for new features and products
• Make architectural decisions regarding platform, tools, and technologies to ensure consistency and reliability
• Plan and build scalable platform systems to support growth in users, features, and partners
