Job summary

Jani-King International is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the architecture, quality bar, and technical direction of a mission-critical franchise accounting platform built with React, .NET, and SQL Server hosted in AWS. This is an on-site, senior role at our Addison, TX headquarters, reporting to the CTO and collaborating with product management, accounting, and the engineering team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years as the senior-most or lead engineer on a production system with financial or operational consequences.
• Ownership of code review standards and enforcement with contractors or vendors.
• Mastery of agent-driven software development in Cursor or a comparable IDE.
• Fluency with a modern issue tracker such as Linear and habitual use of an AI assistant like Claude.
• Deep proficiency in C#/.NET, and strong proficiency in TypeScript and React.

Responsibilities

• Own the code review standard across all engineering repositories and serve as final reviewer for financial calculation, data migration, and authorization code.
• Design the review pipeline: automated vs. human checks and what remains for human judgment.
• Define and document coding conventions, testing expectations, and the Definition of Done for employees and contractors.
• Own the technical architecture of the platform and its satellite applications, including service boundaries and cloud deployment.
• Lead design for historical data migration, payment processing, and CRM/banking integrations.
• Mentor contract developers, pair programming, and collaborate with product managers on scoping and schemas.
• Participate in scoping from the start and build high-leverage features that establish design patterns.
• Define observability and participate in the engineering on-call rotation.
• Decompose features into independent units and dispatch to agents for parallel work.
