Job summary

Opiniion, a SaaS AI-first platform for resident experience, seeks a Staff Software Architect to own the architectural vision of our core platform while staying hands-on. You will balance evolving the live system with designing the next generation, partnering with our Staff Data Architect to align application and data architecture to scale.

You will drive cross-team architectural consistency, set the technical direction, ensure scalability, security, observability, and cost-efficiency, and mentor

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software, incl. 7+ in architect/leadership roles.
• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Expert in microservices, event-driven architecture and DDD.
• Cloud proficiency across AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Familiarity with ADRs and architecture decision records.

Responsibilities

• Set overall technical direction and own cross-cutting architecture decisions.
• Lead architecture and system design for multi-tenant SaaS backend and frontend.
• Partner with Staff Data Architect on platform-wide data/architecture alignment.
• Ensure systems are scalable, secure, observable, and maintainable.
• Balance legacy live platform work with new platform development during transition.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to align tech roadmap with business strategy.
• Mentor engineers via architecture reviews, ADRs and design docs.
• Champion best practices in distributed systems, cloud, and DevOps.
• Evaluate tooling and AI/ML integration patterns for the product.
• Drive performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency at scale.
