Job summary
Waymo is seeking a Principal technical leader for the Simulator Team to guide architectural strategy across the simulator stack and support evolving autonomy capabilities. You will drive multi-quarter roadmaps, mentor engineers, and partner with senior leaders to ensure cohesive cross-team execution.
The role requires leading complex integrations, deep expertise in large-scale simulation, and strong C++ software architecture.
Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in CS, Robotics, EE, ME, Physics, Math, or related field.
- Experience at an autonomous vehicle or robotics company in a technical leadership role.
- Track record of defining multi-year technical vision and roadmaps.
- Deep expertise in large-scale simulation or autonomy systems.
- Excellent communication with senior stakeholders.
- Strong C++ and large-scale software architecture skills.
Responsibilities
- Architect and lead horizontal software integrations across the Waymo Simulator stack.
- Define long-term technical vision and extensible interfaces for onboard/offboard systems.
- Drive multi-quarter roadmaps and large-scale architectural migrations.
- Collaborate with senior leaders across teams to align system design and fidelity.
- Establish standards, frameworks, and validation methods to accelerate new capabilities.
- Mentor senior engineers and lift cross-team execution.
