Job summary

Uber is seeking a Sr Staff Engineer to lead the Internet Traffic Team’s edge infrastructure across a global system. You will set technical direction, drive major initiatives, and mentor engineers to improve performance, reliability, and security of Uber’s platform.

Responsibilities include developing tooling for observability, coordinating outage responses, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimize outcomes. Strong Go and networking expertise are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in software development with focus on networking and distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Go.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols such as HTTP, TCP/IP, and UDP.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Uber’s edge infrastructure stack to enhance functionality, reliability, and security.
• Advance Uber’s edge infrastructure, tackling large-scale issues on a complex, global system while ensuring a performant and reliable user experience.
• Foster collaborative efforts with key stakeholders to align objectives and optimize results.
• Lead the team’s direction and guide engineers on the Internet Traffic Team.
• Coordinate prompt responses to network outages or performance issues to maintain service reliability.
• Create and implement tooling for monitoring and improving observability for internal stakeholders.
