Job summary

Harness Software Engineering Insights (SEI) seeks a senior Java backend engineer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain highly scalable services in a fast-paced, quality-conscious environment. You will work with a large developer tool ecosystem and own key components end-to-end.

Expect challenges in data modeling, systems design, performance tuning, and secure cloud integrations, collaborating with SRE/DevOps and product teams to deliver reliable software for thousands of developers.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of experience building scalable backend services in Java.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with distributed systems and debugging in production.
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with search frameworks Elasticsearch/SOLR is a plus.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP cloud platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain Java-based backend services.
• Write specifications and design documents for features.
• Own key pieces of the system and ensure delivered quality.
• Work in an agile environment with short customer feedback loops.
• Design and implement scalable backend software solutions.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems in distributed environments.
• Participate in peer reviews of specs, design, and code.
• Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers/DevOps and cross-functional teams to deploy software.
