Job summary

UKG is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise Java web applications and platform services. You will implement AI-powered features, RESTful APIs, and microservices in a cloud-native environment, while maintaining high quality and security.

You will work across front-end and back-end stacks with Java, Spring Boot, React, and related technologies, in a hybrid Lowell, MA setting with three in-office days per week.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years building enterprise Java web apps with modern stacks.
• Strong experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Boot/Framework, Hibernate/JPA, React, HTML5, CSS3, REST APIs, microservices, SQL, MVC.
• Solid Agile, TDD/CI/CD, and automated testing practices.
• Experience integrating AI features (LLMs, RAG, embeddings) and AI tooling in enterprise apps.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java-based web apps and platform services.
• Build secure, scalable software following modern engineering practices.
• Develop front-end and server-side components using Java, Spring, React, and related tech.
• Create RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise SaaS.
• Integrate AI-powered features and AI orchestration while ensuring security and quality.
• Mentor engineers, perform code reviews, and contribute to CI/CD and test automation.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, DevOps, Security, and cross-functional teams.
