Job summary

Knot in NYC is hiring a senior Network Engineer to architect, deploy and maintain our cloud‑based infrastructure. You will own critical API infrastructure and guide cross‑team design decisions to ensure reliability and scale.

You have 6+ years of experience with GCP and Kubernetes, and you thrive in a fast‑paced startup environment. We offer competitive compensation, up to 20% bonus, substantial equity and comprehensive health coverage.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of network engineering experience at a software company, startup preferred.
• Extensive experience with GCP and Kubernetes.
• Experience automating infrastructure deployments (Terraform).
• Proficiency in Go or TS, and use of gRPC & Protobuf.
• Familiar with IP converged networks, GCP VPC, load balancers, IAM.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced startup environment.

What you’ll do

• Architect, design, deploy, document and manage our cloud‑based network infrastructure.




• Own and maintain critical API infrastructure serving hundreds of requests per second.




• Lead and defend technical decisions providing design justification, coordination, and identifying value and requirements for other teams in the organization.




• Learn and continue to foster an understanding of the long‑term needs of our infrastructure.




• Manage and assist in the resolution of complicated technical problems & incidents and provide appropriate communication & escalation.




• Support and maintain our current infrastructure to maintain a high level of service and availability to the rest of the organization.

What you’ll need to get the job done

• 6+ years of network engineering experience at a software company, preferably a startup.




• Considerable experience with GCP and kubernetes.




• Track record of automating infrastructure and deployments (e.g. Terraform).




• Proficiency within a modern tech stack, Go or TypeScript for languages and gRPC & Protobuf for communication, as well as with low‑level primitives such as IP converged networks, GCP VPC, load balancers, and IAM role management and implementation.




• Know what high quality code & software engineering processes look like and know how to foster an environment that creates them.




• Eagerness to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and constantly grow & develop your craft.




• Expert communication and ability to collaborate seamlessly across engineering teams.
