Job summary

Gusto is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the PEO Benefits team. You will design, build, and scale the PEO Benefits experience, including benefits shopping, plan-recommendations, and carrier integrations, working across a large Ruby on Rails and React codebase.

You'll mentor engineers, own multi-quarter initiatives end-to-end, and collaborate with product, data, design, and platform teams to deliver customer-focused solutions that reduce healthcare costs and improve operations for small

Qualifications

8+ years of software development experience.
3+ years of PEO experience preferred.
Experience leading multi-quarter projects that deliver measurable impact.
Experience driving large cross-functional programs end-to-end.
Experience using AI tools to accelerate development.
Curiosity with AI frameworks and safe deployment practices.
Ability to mentor engineers to improve performance.
Experience with Ruby on Rails is a plus.
