Job summary

OneMain Financial is seeking a senior backend leader to own the Cards Servicing technical strategy and domain architecture. You will guide AWS-based modernization, balance compute and data trade-offs, and enable independent team delivery with security and resilience.

You will mentor engineers, lead design discussions, and collaborate across multiple teams to shape roadmaps and reduce incidents while delivering scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction for Cards Servicing across teams and shape the roadmap.
• Lead AWS-based backend modernization and reduce vendor coupling while ensuring security and reliability.
• Design critical servicing workflows to ensure data integrity against failures and disruptions.
• Contribute to implementations, prototypes, and code/design reviews.
• Champion automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and production readiness.
• Mentor engineers and grow technical leaders in system design and decision-making.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Architecture, Security, and Platform teams to align roadmaps.
• Drive technical improvements to reduce incidents and balance delivery with maintainability.
