Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Blockchain Platform team. You will define the technical vision for infrastructure powering core crypto actions across 60+ networks and 300+ tokens, shaping wallet stacks, indexing, and asset systems at global scale.

You will drive multi-quarter strategy, lead cross-team initiatives, and set standards for correctness, security, and observability while enabling high-performance, low-latency operations at a remote-first company.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with staff-plus level.
• Hands-on experience with blockchain protocols at node/protocol level.
• Proven track record leading large-scale, multi-team architecture initiatives.
• Experience applying AI or agent-based automation to reduce operational toil.
• Generative AI used responsibly with human oversight for business-ready outputs.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-quarter technical strategy for Blockchain Platform across nodes, wallets, indexing and asset lifecycle.
• Architect and evolve core infrastructure for high availability, low latency, cost efficiency, and security at global scale.
• Lead end-to-end design and rollout of large cross-team architectural initiatives with clear milestones.
• Drive engineering standards for correctness, security, reliability, testing, and observability.
• Own data-driven reliability by using observability signals to identify and remediate gaps.
• Represent Blockchain Platform in executive forums and secure buy-in for high-impact bets.
