What You'll Do

The Advanced Controller Development (ACD) team is part of Samsung's Memory Business Unit, a leader in DRAM and NAND Flash. ACD aims to solve key problems for Cloud & Data center by developing new memory and storage technologies. We collaborate closely with development teams to bring feature innovation to product roadmaps.

Join us in creating new computing system architectures for emerging machine learning applications, data analytics, and edge computing. Your focus will be on enhancing memory and storage capabilities by developing prototypes of controllers and optimizing them for mass production.

Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose office/headquarters, in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.

  1. Participate in architectural definitions and be responsible for microarchitecture of subsystems and/or chip level.
  2. Design logic and implement RTL, including quality checks (Assertion, Lint, CDC, STA).
  3. Integrate third-party IPs with system bus, peripherals, and CPU cores.
  4. Collaborate with the design verification team for debugging to meet code and functional coverage targets.
  5. Work with physical designers on timing constraints, synthesis, DFT insertion, and static timing analysis.

What You Bring

  • BE or MS in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 15+ years of experience in logic design, data center technologies, or cloud infrastructures.
  • Experience in microarchitecture of SoC, interface subsystems, logic modules.
  • Good knowledge of ASIC design flow.
  • Experience with commercial IPs such as UCIe, CPU, Ethernet, and HBM interfaces.
  • Deep understanding of PPA (performance, power, area) trade-offs.
  • Experience in complex logic designs and timing closure for large, sophisticated designs.
  • Self-motivated problem-solver, team-oriented.
  • Inclusive, adaptable to diverse global norms.
  • Curious learner, resilient, data-driven in understanding challenges.
  • Collaborative, supportive, open to new approaches.

Skills

  • Knowledge of HBM.
  • Working knowledge of ARM processors, AMBA, AXI protocols.
  • Knowledge of compression and encryption algorithms.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies (CXL, in-memory computing, Ethernet-attached SSDs) in server memory/storage systems.
  • Motivated with strong communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.

What We Offer

The pay range for this role in the US is $180,950—$289,050 USD. Compensation depends on role, location, experience, and skills. We offer incentives based on performance, along with a comprehensive benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision/401k, and other wellbeing programs.
