Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc seeks a Senior Staff Controls Engineer to advance new product development and legacy system improvements. You will design, tune, and validate control algorithms, develop high-fidelity simulations, and integrate electrical and control systems across cross-functional teams.

The role requires significant travel and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include designing and validating products, specifying requirements, and supporting manufacturability enhancements

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience; expertise in developing control algorithms.
• Expertise in closed-loop control tuning, stability analysis, and performance optimization.
• Model-based design with high-fidelity simulations and auto code generation.
• Experience with test/validation plans (HIL/SIL, bench/component tests, fault injection).
• Strong written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs, validates, and brings new products to market.
• Specifies functional requirements; designs and tests complex components for final designs.
• Develops and evaluates fitness-for-use testing and validation plans.
• Collaborates with manufacturing partners to optimize designs for manufacturability.
• Mentors less experienced engineers; 80% travel required.
• Other duties as assigned.
