Job summary

Circana seeks Senior Staff Software Engineer to drive design of a massively parallel processing (MPP) clustered database engine powering real-time analytics across Circana clients in 22+ countries.

You will build low-latency, high-throughput kernels, optimize for multi-core, vectorized hardware, and integrate in-database ML within the engine. Hybrid Chicago, IL location with remote options.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-year CS degree; Masters in HPC and Bigdata preferred for senior roles.
• 8+ years production C++ experience (C++17/20/23); low-level systems.
• Expertise in MPI with OpenMP and MapReduce frameworks.
• Hardware-aware engineering and SIMD intrinsics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Architect distributed database kernels and cluster coordination protocols.
• Develop low-latency, high-throughput backend code in C++20/23.
• Design MPP execution engines across many nodes using MPI and OpenMP.
• Profile and optimize; implement explicit SIMD vectorization and cache locality.
• Design ultra-low latency cluster communication subsystems (RDMA/DPDK).
• Build a native, zero-copy ML execution framework inside the engine.
• Develop cache-oblivious, vectorized algorithms for real-time analytics.
• Collaborate across time zones; participate in reviews and mentoring.
