Job summary

Wonder is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer to set the technical direction for supply chain systems. This hands-on, backend-heavy IC role will own cross-system architecture across ordering, planning, production, inventory, and fulfillment, partnering with product, design, data, and operations.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive architectural decisions, and balance operational requirements with technical quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 9+ years of backend software engineering experience, including staff level or equivalent scope.
• Strong system design skills and experience shipping and operating production services.
• Deep proficiency in at least one JVM language (Kotlin).
• Experience owning a technical domain end-to-end from data model to production operations.
• Proven ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives through influence.
• Excellent communication and leadership in technical discussions with product/design/ops.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising engineering standards.
• Nice to have: experience in supply chain/logistics or warehouse management; Event sourcing and CQRS; Kotlin/JVM ecosystem; gRPC; large-scale datasets.

Responsibilities

• Design core services for ordering, planning, production, inventory, and fulfillment.
• Lead cross-system architecture across multiple technical areas.
• Define event models, service boundaries, and data contracts.
• Build scalable services that integrate with inventory, warehouse, and supplier systems.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers and lead design reviews and postmortems.
• Drive systemic fixes through post‑mortems and architectural decisions.
