Senior Staff Attorney Workers' Compensation

Currently, we have an in-house remote opportunity for a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate Workers' Compensation cases throughout Northern Illinois. This role is ideal for an experienced attorney with significant trial and litigation experience in Illinois Workers' Compensation. The Senior Staff Attorney will aim to deliver the best results in pending litigation. The position reports to the Staff Legal Managing Attorney or Assistant Managing Attorney. Our ideal candidate has considerable trial experience and can independently handle cases from inception through trial.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex workers' compensation litigation
• Analyze legal and factual issues, conduct legal research, develop and present defense strategies
• Prepare pleadings, depositions, motions, and briefs independently
• Communicate effectively with clients, claims customers, courts, witnesses, and counsel
• Manage cases efficiently and promptly
• Present witnesses and evidence at trials and hearings
• Draft and argue appellate briefs
• Provide legal opinions to management and clients

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and active Illinois Bar license
• Minimum 5 years of legal experience in Workers' Compensation Litigation
• Knowledge of Illinois Workers' Compensation procedures and trial expertise
• Strong legal research, writing, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to leverage new technology quickly

This position is remote but may require travel within Northern Illinois for court appearances.

The annual base pay range is $128,000 - $192,000, based on experience and performance. Compensation may include bonuses and incentives.
