Anthropic is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Claude Developer Platform and guide API Engineering across API Core, Capabilities, Knowledge, Distributability, and Agents. You will drive technical strategy, own critical architectural decisions, and mentor senior engineers to ensure reliability and scale.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering experience at Staff or Senior Staff level.
• Shaped technical strategy for large-scale API or distributed systems platforms.
• Ability to influence through design docs and architectural decisions.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Research, Inference, Platform, Infrastructure, Safeguards.
• Mentored staff-level engineers across the org.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-year technical strategy for the Claude API across Core, Capabilities, Knowledge, Distributability, and Agents.
• Lead the highest-complexity engineering initiatives across multiple teams.
• Serve as primary technical decision-maker for major architectural decisions.
• Partner with Research and Inference; ensure reliable, scalable delivery.
• Mentor staff-level engineers across the org.
• Align with Product, GTM, Safety, and other teams to manage risk.
