Job summary

Asana is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Developer Productivity group and accelerate developer velocity with AI across tooling, frameworks, and infrastructure for every Asana engineer.

This role is based in New York or San Francisco with an office-centric hybrid schedule; in-office days are Mon, Tue and Thu, with WFH possible midweek. Base salary ranges from $323,500 to $336,750, with additional compensation such as equity and benefits.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a technical contributor in large-scale products.
• 2+ years owning a build system, developer environment, CI for 200+ engineers.
• Experience making and delegating org-wide technical decisions.
• Fluency in current AI developer tooling with strong direction for teams.
• Passionate about coaching and mentoring engineers of all levels.
• Collaborative with an inclusive culture and learning mindset.
• Curiosity about AI tools and willingness to adapt and leverage them.

Responsibilities

• Drive developer productivity and AI tooling projects impacting 500+ developers.
• Partner with DP Group Tech Lead to set technical vision for 6+ teams.
• Define and align the roadmap for ASANA's development platform.
• Own outcomes like extending internal tooling to delegate work to agents.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers across Foundations and Engineering.
• Advise team leads on long-term planning, design, architecture, and debt.
