Job summary

Agility Robotics seeks a Senior Staff AI Software Engineer, Perception, to own the architectural vision for Digit's perception in dynamic environments. You will balance safety with performance across sensing modalities while mentoring engineers and coordinating with safety teams.

The role is remote with a hybrid option, offering a US-based work setup and a base salary range correlated to experience in robotics perception.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in machine learning/perception for robotics
• Master's or Ph.D. in AI/Robotics/CS or related field
• Experience architecting ML/perception systems for safety-critical contexts
• Deep expertise in CNNs, multi-object tracking, data association, pose estimation
• Experience making system-level tradeoffs across sensing modalities and compute

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and system architecture for Perception
• Analyze architectural tradeoffs across sensing modalities, model design, redundancy, and compute budget
• Stay hands-on with development to prototype or build critical pieces
• Partner with safety and systems engineering to define safety case strategy
• Support failure mode and hazard analysis at the system level
• Evaluate emerging research and technology for future architectures
• Set standards for verification and validation of ML-based perception systems
• Collaborate across navigation, controls, and hardware to serve the whole robot
• Mentor engineers and present architecture to leadership and partners
