Job summary

Agility Robotics is seeking a Senior Staff AI Software Engineer, Perception, to own the technical vision and system architecture for how Digit perceives and stays safe as it operates in open, dynamic environments. You will steer ML-based perception, select sensing modalities, and articulate the safety case while mentoring teams across engineering disciplines.

This role offers a remote-first arrangement with the option to work hybrid from our U.S. offices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in ML/perception for robotics
• Strong foundation in ML, robotics, and intelligent systems
• Experience architecting ML/perception systems for safety-critical contexts
• Deep CNNs, multi-object tracking, data association, supervised learning, and pose estimation
• System-level tradeoffs across sensing modalities, redundancy, and compute constraints

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and system architecture for Perception enabling safety and efficiency as Digit expands to open, dynamic environments
• Analyze architectural tradeoffs across sensing modalities, model design, redundancy and compute budget
• Stay hands-on to prototype, validate, or build critical pieces
• Partner with safety and systems engineering to define the safety case strategy
• Support failure mode and hazard analysis at the system level
• Evaluate emerging research and decide what to adopt into future robot architectures
• Set standards for verification and validation of ML-based perception systems
• Collaborate with navigation, controls and hardware to align perception across the robot
• Mentor engineers and communicate architecture to executives, partners, and customers
