Job summary

Agility Robotics builds Digit, the world’s first commercially deployed humanoid robot, now in warehouses and manufacturing facilities. We seek a Senior Staff AI Software Engineer, Perception to own the technical vision for how Digit perceives humans and hazards as it moves into open spaces.

You will prototype, validate, and shape safety-critical perception systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with safety, navigation, and hardware teams to deliver robust robot architectures.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in machine learning/perception for robotics.
• Demonstrated experience architecting ML/perception systems for safety-critical or safety-rated contexts.
• Deep expertise in deep convolutional neural networks, multi-object tracking, data association, supervised learning, and pose estimation.
• Experience with system-level tradeoffs across sensing modalities and compute constraints on embedded hardware.
• Track record of setting technical direction at an organization level.
• Publications in CVPR, ICCV, RSS, ICRA are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and system architecture for Perception enabling safety and efficiency.
• Analyze architectural tradeoffs across sensing modalities, models, redundancy, and compute budget.
• Stay hands-on to prototype, validate, or build critical pieces.
• Collaborate with safety and systems engineering to define safety case strategy.
• Support failure mode and hazard analysis at the system level.
• Evaluate emerging research and decide what to adopt in future architectures.
• Set standards for verification and validation of ML-based perception.
• Collaborate across navigation, controls, and hardware to align perception with the whole robot.
• Mentor engineers and present architectures to executives and customers.
