Horizon Goodwill Industries, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Hagerstown, MD. The role focuses on general ledger activity, month-end close, fixed assets, grants, and audit support.

You will provide cross-functional coverage for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, work closely with auditors, and identify improvements to accounting processes and internal controls. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including GL, reconciliations, and close.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and experience with AP/AR processes.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables and lookups).

Responsibilities

• Lead portions of the monthly and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, allocations, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Review GL activity, research unusual items, and reconcile subledgers.
• Maintain fixed assets, depreciation, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet schedules.
• Maintain grant-related schedules and documentation; assist audits.
• Provide AP/AR cross-coverage including invoicing and cash receipts.
• Assist bank and cash reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
