Job summary

Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernardino, CA is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting for a high-volume multi-channel retail business, including posting transactions, monthly close, and payroll accounting. You will supervise two accounting clerks and support year-end reporting.

This role requires 5+ years of full-cycle accounting, experience with Acumatica or similar ERP, advanced Excel, and multi-state tax filings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliations), including 2+ years owning a month-end close end-to-end.
• Experience with a mid-market ERP (Acumatica preferred; NetSuite, Dynamics, Sage or similar considered) and QuickBooks.
• Advanced Excel skills — comfortable building workpapers from large data downloads.
• Multi-state sales tax or regulatory fee filing experience.
• Proven accuracy, follow-through, and independence with high transaction volume and hard deadlines.
• Experience supervising, leading, or reviewing the work of accounting support staff.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the Accounts Payable Clerk and Accounts Receivable Clerk: assign and prioritize daily work, review output for accuracy and proper coding, and approve exceptions within authority.
• Train clerks on procedures and systems; maintain cross-training so clerk duties have coverage during absences.
• Provide input to management on clerk performance, scheduling, and process changes in accordance with company policies.
