MaxIT Consulting – Max Corporate Group seeks a Senior Staff Accountant / General Ledger Accountant to join our Chicago manufacturing operations. You will own the complete accounting cycle, managing the general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting, reporting directly to the CFO.

This on-site role requires hands-on expertise in manufacturing environments, MAS 90 / Sage 100, and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (B/S, I/S, C/F).
• Maintain an accurate general ledger: post and adjust entries, support month-end close.
• Perform GL and bank reconciliations and reconcile other financial accounts.
• Support budgets and forecasts and analyze variances between forecast and actual results.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and responses to auditor requests.
• Process accounts payable with a 3-way match, resolve vendor discrepancies and run weekly checks.
• Handle accounts receivable: post cash receipts, reconcile credit cards and follow up on past-due accounts.
• Use the company's accounting software and ERP to manage financial data and reporting.
• Work with other departments to support business objectives and special projects.

Senior Staff Accountant / General Ledger Accountant

MaxIT Consulting – Max Corporate Group is looking for a Senior Accountant to join an established, US-based furniture manufacturing company in Chicago, Illinois.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will run the complete accounting cycle hands-on in a small, lean finance team: general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, payables, receivables and financial reporting.

THE CHALLENGE

In a small manufacturing company the accounting team is only a few people, so the business needs an accountant who can personally execute every step of the process, not just oversee others. Accurate books, a clean and timely close and clear numbers for the CFO depend on this role.

This is a fully on-site position with no remote or off-site work, close to the operation and with direct impact on the monthly financial results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow).
• Maintain an accurate general ledger: review, post and adjust entries, and support the month-end close.
• Perform GL and bank reconciliations and reconcile other financial accounts.
• Support budgets and forecasts and analyze variances between forecast and actual results.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and responses to auditor requests.
• Process accounts payable with a 3-way match, resolve vendor discrepancies, maintain vendor data and run the weekly check run.
• Handle accounts receivable: post cash receipts and checks, reconcile credit card transactions, resolve customer discrepancies and follow up on past-due accounts.
• Use the company's accounting software and ERP to manage financial data and reporting.
• Work with other departments to support business objectives and special projects.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• 5 to 10 years of hands-on accounting experience, executing the full accounting cycle end to end.
• Career experience predominantly in manufacturing companies (little or no background in public accounting, nonprofits or service companies).Experience in small companies with lean accounting teams (fewer than three people).
• Hands-on experience with accounting software and ERP systems; MAS 90 / Sage 100 strongly preferred.
• Stable career history, with at least one employer of 3 to 5 or more years of continuous service.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and the ability to handle confidential information.
• Must live within approximately 45 minutes of the Chicago (60632) worksite.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with Crystal Reports.
