Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to maintain financial accuracy under GAAP, manage general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries and financial analyses, and ensure compliance across the organization.

The role may involve training or supervising staff accountants, coordinating reconciliations, billings, and disbursement analyses, and supporting the mission-driven work across Maine and New Hampshire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
• CPA/CIA/CMA designation preferred.
• Minimum of three years of related experience.
• Ability to apply accounting principles to complex transactions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; maintain confidentiality.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy; intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain control of general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries.
• Produce detailed reports, financial statements, and analyses showing financial status.
• Monitor account reconciliations, billings, disbursement requests, and analyses.
• Assist training or supervising staff accounting personnel as needed.
