Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant in Macon, GA to support the accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting. The role emphasizes accurate reconciliations, data analysis in Excel, and ownership of general ledger records.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas), and experience with GL accounting and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Relevant accounting experience, including general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and formulas used for financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Use Excel to organize financial data, perform reconciliations, and analyze account activity.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Analyze financial results and explain variances.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
• Prepare documentation for audits and other financial reviews.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and accuracy.
• Assist with additional accounting projects as assigned.
