Express Wash Concepts LLC, founded in 2018, operates a family of express car wash brands and invests in community outreach through EWC CARES. The Senior Staff Accountant will play a pivotal role in the month-end close, fixed asset accounting, and utility accruals across multi-location operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 3+ years of related accounting experience, including month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
• Proficiency in Excel, including data analysis and identifying trends/outliers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and dedication to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines.
• Initiative-taking approach; independently identifies and solves problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely financial statements under US GAAP.
• Maintain fixed asset subledger and reconcile to GL; manage asset additions and disposals.
• Prepare monthly utility accruals and analyze usage by location.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and variance explanations.
• Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation for audit readiness.

This role plays an important part in the month-end close process and is also responsible for all fixed asset accounting and for utility accruals and usage analysis across our multi-location car wash operation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, works independently, and enjoys turning data into insight for the business.Essential FunctionsMonth-End Close (Primary Responsibility)Execute and help drive the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statement completion in accordance with US GAAPPrepare, analyze, and post journal entries, including accruals, reclassifications, and adjusting entriesPrepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations; research and resolve reconciling itemsPerform variance analysis and prepare clear explanations of fluctuations to budget and prior periodsMaintain close checklists and supporting documentation so that work is complete, reviewable, and audit-readyFixed AssetsOwn all fixed asset accounts, including the fixed asset subledger, and reconcile the subledger to the general ledger each monthReview capital additions and place new assets into service, setting up each asset with the correct classification, in-service date, useful life, and depreciation methodCalculate and record depreciation, and analyze fixed asset activity and balancesProcess asset disposals and write-offs as necessary, including calculating and recording any gain or lossPrepare fixed asset roll forwards and supporting schedules for audit and management reviewUtility Accruals & Usage AnalysisPrepare monthly utility accruals for water, gas, trash, and electric, and true up accruals to actual invoicesAnalyze utility usage and cost by location to identify outliers, such as unusual spikes, billing errors, or potential operational issuesInvestigate outliers, follow up with operations and vendors as needed, and communicate findings and recommended actionsAdditional ResponsibilitiesAssist in the compilation of supporting documents and variance explanations for external audit requirementsIdentify areas of opportunity/weakness within business processes and recommend solutions for achieving optimal efficiencyBuild relationships with and support business partners across the organization to become a trusted advisor and help drive sound financial decisionsAssist with special projectsRequired Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting3+ years of related accounting experience, including month-end close and balance sheet reconciliationsStrong knowledge of US GAAPProficiency in Excel, including the ability to analyze data sets and identify trends and outliersStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated attention to detail and dedication to accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring close deadlinesInitiative-taking approach; independently identifies and solves problemsExpress Wash Concepts provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or genetics.
