Description

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and managing reporting by collecting, reviewing, and summarizing account information. Assists with strategic planning for accounting policies and internal controls over financial transactions. Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and carries out other accounting duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
• Manages monthly closing of financial records and posting of all month-end journal entries.
• Reviews financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Prepares and/or reviews ledger entries and reconciliations.
• Reviews balance sheet and income statement trends to ensure the accuracy of monthly financial statements.
• Prepares sales tax returns and ensures taxes are paid properly and on time.
• Manages preparation of annual 1099 tax reporting for vendors.
• Provides accounting assistance to staff.
• Supports year-end financial audits.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• High level of efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work with little to no supervision

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms. Uses a computer, copier, fax, and telephone equipment. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and lift up to 15 pounds.
