Job summary

7-Eleven is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Irving, TX location. This role focuses on accurate month-end close, detailed gross profit analysis, and robust financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of accounting experience, a CPA or CPA-eligible status is a plus, and strong Excel + ERP skills to drive improvements and reporting accuracy across the business.

• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA certification or CPA eligible is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for timely financial reporting.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Perform detailed gross profit analysis by category, vendor, and location.
• Analyze sales, inventory, cost of sales, markdowns, shrink, and margin drivers.
• Prepare monthly management financial reports and schedules.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.**Key Responsibilities*** Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.* Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding differences.* Perform detailed gross profit analysis, including variance analysis by merchandise category, vendor, and location.* Analyze sales, inventory, cost of sales, markdowns, shrink, and other factors impacting gross margin performance.* Prepare monthly management financial reports and schedules.* Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control requirements.* Participate in system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvement projects.* Ad-hoc duties as needed**Qualifications:*** Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.* 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience.* CPA certification or CPA eligible is a plus.**Key Skills:*** Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.* Experience performing financial statement and gross profit analysis.* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, and complex formulas.* Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or similar financial systems.* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.* Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.* Knowledge of inventory accounting, cost of sales, and gross margin reporting* Experience supporting process automation and reporting enhancements using Power BI or similar analytics tools.*If an hourly or salary range is included in this ad it represents the range 7-Eleven in good faith believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
