Qualifications

Position Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant ensures the accurate execution of financial operations while maintaining compliance with regulations. This role is critical in delivering strategic financial insights, mentoring team members, and supporting Empower’s mission to provide high-quality, affordable medications.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares and reviews comprehensive financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with tax regulations, and seamless coordination of internal and external audit processes.
  • Oversees and manages complex general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and detailed financial reporting to ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
  • Leads and optimizes accounts payable and receivable operations, enhancing vendor relationships, streamlining payment workflows, and implementing effective credit management strategies.
  • Conducts in-depth financial analyses, including robust forecasting, trend assessments, and budget variance evaluations, to drive data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Partners with senior leadership to develop and execute financial strategies, identify performance improvement opportunities, and align initiatives with organizational goals.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial management systems, including Enterprise Resource Planning software, Excel, QuickBooks, and proficiency in performing complex reconciliations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience required, with a preference for healthcare or manufacturing industry exposure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is strongly preferred.
