Job Summary:

This accounting position offers an opportunity to learn and grow with a dynamic, financially strong family-owned business. The Senior Staff Accountant will assist with a wide variety of accounting, operational, and administrative functions for the company. Our goal is to provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to understand all aspects of the company and to develop them into an exceptional ‘businessperson’ not just an accountant.

Essential Functions:

  • Handling accounting responsibilities in support of month-end and year-end closes.
  • Researching, preparing, and entering journal entries for multiple operating entities and partnerships.
  • Preparing account analysis for multiple operating entities and partnerships.
  • Assistance with financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly state and local filings/reporting as needed.
  • Analyzing, preparing, and/or reviewing bank account and inter-company account reconciliations.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting requirement preparation and operational analysis for divisions and affiliated companies.
  • Monthly sales and use tax and annual business privilege tax filings as required.
  • Monthly/annual vehicle registration/licensing responsibilities for new and existing truck and equipment fleet.
  • Auditing and reviewing information required from divisions/affiliates both on-site and at corporate headquarters to ensure requirements are met accurately and timely.
  • Specialty billing and reporting responsibilities for operating entities.
  • Communicating and working with division and corporate personnel to identify, implement, and improve processes and internal controls.
  • Tracking insurance and workers’ compensation costs.
  • Providing assistance as needed with annual audits.
  • Maintaining files and records as needed.
  • Special projects and other tasks as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in public or private accounting; some manufacturing experience a plus, but not required.
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be organized and motivated to succeed with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong skills related to Microsoft Office software products.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics accounting software would be a plus.
