Job description

Brown & Fortunato, P.C. is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our national law firm. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger experience, solid technical skills, and the ability to manage financial operations in a professional services environment.

This position offers hands‑on responsibility, interaction with leadership and administrative teams, and the opportunity to contribute to a stable, well‑established organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review financial statements and timekeeper profitability analysis
  • Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations
  • Support internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance initiatives
  • Conduct financial analysis, including annual budgeting and variance analysis
  • Oversee and assist with the billing process, including supporting documentation
  • Support government reporting and compliance requirements
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting software
  • Work closely with administrative staff while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 7+ years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or professional services
  • Strong understanding of debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and financial statement preparation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a deadline‑driven environment
