Job summary

Maryland Department of Human Services, Office of Budget and Finance, seeks a senior Budget Lead to direct the SSA Budget Team. The role develops, monitors, and executes the Social Services Administration and Child Welfare budgets, ensuring fiscal integrity and accurate reporting.

You will defend recommendations to senior management and drive monitoring methodologies across financial systems. Ideal candidates bring eight years of budget experience or a Bachelor's with four years, plus proficiency

Qualifications

• Eight years of budget preparation, presentation and execution (or substitute with Bachelor's degree and four years of experience)
• Experience with the Maryland Financial Management Information System (FMIS)
• Experience with the Budget Analysis and Reporting System (BARS)
• One year of experience preparing and/or overseeing a budget in a government agency
• Ability to evaluate financial systems and analyze fiscal data for compliance and operational impact

Responsibilities

• Lead a budget team for the SSA and Child Welfare budgets.
• Develop, monitor, and execute budgets.
• Oversee fiscal integrity, expenditure projections, and financial reporting.
• Defend budget recommendations to senior management.
• Analyze financial systems and establish monitoring methodologies.
