Job summary

Charles Schwab in Austin is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to lead reliability, scalability, and performance of Schwab’s mobile and digital platforms. You will champion SRE practices, define SLOs and error budgets, and reduce toil through automation and tooling.

You will partner with engineering, architecture, and product teams to embed reliability into the software lifecycle, guide on-call practices, and mentor engineers across the CET SAvE organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software development and SRE with cloud-native and distributed systems
• 8+ years in DevOps/SRE with production operations and automation
• 8+ years with CI/CD, observability, and telemetry platforms
• 5+ years leading SRE practices like SLOs, monitoring, and incident reviews
• Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems and tooling
• Experience supporting high-availability distributed systems
• Strong automation and operational tooling skills
• BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Lead production operations and incident management
• Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting across systems
• Design automation to reduce operational toil and improve resiliency
• Develop scripts and tooling with Python and shell for maintenance and optimization
• Contribute to CI/CD and deployment pipeline improvements
• Partner with development teams to ensure production readiness
• Embed reliability practices into the software lifecycle
• Mentor junior engineers in SRE best practices
