Job summary

Akoya is seeking a Senior SRE Engineer for a 6-month contract on the Platform Engineering team, spanning global development, operations, and delivery. You will own reliability across multi-region AWS, mentor engineers, and drive SLAs/SLOs.

This role balances hands-on engineering with leadership, incident response, and automation to reduce toil, with a path to full-time conversion. Remote-first with flexible collaboration in Boston-area roles.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating scalable, cloud-based infrastructure.
• Proven incident management with post-mortem leadership.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, security, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable systems for uptime, resilience, and performance; define SLOs/SLIs/SLAs with product teams.
• Own incident detection, escalation, and resolution; develop playbooks; lead post-mortems with corrective actions.
• Build monitoring, logging, and alerting; automate deployments and toil reduction.
• Drive CI/CD improvements and maintain runbooks and best practices.
• Partner with developers on reliability by design and observability; enforce security policies.
• Foster a culture of ownership and cross-functional collaboration to improve reliability across platforms.
