Job summary

Kong Inc. is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the global Platform SRE team. You will design, automate, and run production systems across AWS, GCP, and Azure, focusing on reliability, scalability, and security for Kong’s SaaS platform.

You’ll build Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and service mesh solutions, while improving performance and incident response in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience managing SaaS or PaaS systems at enterprise scale.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes and fault-tolerant design.
• Strong IaC experience with Terraform/Terragrunt.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps (ArgoCD, Atlantis, Helm).
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash for automation.
• Solid Linux/Unix networking and load balancer knowledge.
• Familiarity with API gateway and service mesh tools.
• Experience in 24/7 production support environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate and scale Kong’s global SaaS platform with reliability and performance.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Design and optimize multi-region data and caching layers for low latency.
• Manage Kong Gateway and Kong Mesh in hybrid/distributed setups.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and GitOps for consistent changes.
• Enhance observability and incident response; track SLOs using Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana/Thanos.
• Collaborate with development and security to ensure compliant operations.
• Participate in a 24/7/365 production support on-call rotation.
