Job summary

Kong is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the global Platform SRE team. You will design, operate, and scale Kong’s multi-region SaaS platform across AWS, GCP, and Azure, building automation for production systems, and ensuring reliability, security, and performance.

You will own Kubernetes-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability, collaborating across security and development teams to support 24/7 production environments and large-scale service mesh and gateway

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
Experience managing SaaS/platform systems at enterprise scale (multi-region, multi-tenant).
Deep expertise with Kubernetes including debugging and scaling.

Responsibilities

Operate and scale Kong’s global SaaS platform (Konnect) ensuring reliability and performance across regions.
Build, automate, and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure and deployment workflows using Terraform/Terragrunt, Helm, and ArgoCD.
Design and optimize multi-region data and caching layers (PostgreSQL, Redis, ClickHouse, Druid) for high availability.
Improve Kong Gateway and Kong Mesh environments supporting hybrid architectures.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows to automate service delivery.
Enhance observability and incident response with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana and Thanos.
Collaborate with development and security teams to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and improve operational playbooks and postmortems.
Lead scaling initiatives to improve elasticity, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
