Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Herndon, VA is seeking an engineer to own and operate a range of critical infrastructure systems.

You will apply deep knowledge of Linux, TCP/IP networking, and scripting to build automated solutions that run at scale. This role collaborates with software, hardware, and network teams across AWS to improve reliability, security, and cost efficiency, including 24/7 production support and incident resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
• 4+ years of SRE, systems engineering, DevOps, or related experience.
• Experience with Linux and scripting languages (Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash).
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols.
• Automation mindset with incident resolution in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate a number of critical infrastructure systems.
• Develop automated solutions to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot deployment failures and patching in 24/7 production environments.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers across AWS to maintain service quality.
