Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems in Chicago is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer with expertise in enterprise backup, cyber recovery, and platform resiliency to design and operate highly available recovery capabilities across on‑prem, cloud, and SaaS environments.

You'll develop IaC and Recovery as Code using Ansible, Terraform, and Python, set SLOs/SLIs, and drive monitoring and recovery readiness. This role partners with Infrastructure, Security, Cloud, and Applications teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Backup Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• 5+ years designing enterprise backup solutions.
• 3+ years supporting cyber recovery architectures.
• Experience implementing SRE principles within enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and high availability architectures.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and maintain highly available, resilient enterprise platforms using SRE principles.
• Design, implement, and administer enterprise backup and recovery solutions across on-premises, cloud, and SaaS platforms.
• Design and implement enterprise cyber recovery solutions including air-gapped recovery vaults and isolated recovery environments.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Recovery as Code automation using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
• Define and measure Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for backup and recovery services.
• Implement monitoring for backup success rates, replication health, and recovery readiness.
• Plan and execute cyber recovery exercises, including clean room validation and air-gap recovery testing.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Cloud Engineering, and Application Development teams.
