Job summary

ICON Technologies in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) / Backup Engineer to design and operate secure, highly available backup and recovery solutions. You will work in a hybrid setup, collaborating across security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to prevent outages and ransomware impact.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with enterprise backup platforms, cloud-recovery, and automation tools, with strong leadership and cross-functional communication skills.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in Backup Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or SRE.
• Experience with enterprise backup platforms listed (Cohesity, Dell PowerProtect, Data Domain, etc.).
• Hands-on with immutable backups, air-gapped vaults, and recovery orchestration.
• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cross-region recovery.
• Strong infrastructure knowledge: VMware, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, Windows Server, AD.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate secure, highly available backup/recovery solutions.
• Implement automated backup and recovery pipelines with CI/CD tooling.
• Monitor and improve resiliency, SLOs/SLIs, and incident response.
• Lead cross-functional efforts with security, networking, and application teams.
