Job summary

VETRO is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to scale the global FiberMap platform, delivering reliable GIS-powered fiber management software. You will own cloud infra, monitoring, automation, and security practices while collaborating across engineering and product teams.

Hybrid role based at our Portland, ME HQ with on-call rotations and a strong emphasis on AI-driven operations, observed performance, and rapid incident response. Prior SRE/DevOps expertise is essential.

Qualifications

• BS or equivalent in CS/engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in SRE/DevOps/Platform Engineering or similar role.
• Experience provisioning, deploying, and supporting highly available cloud-based infrastructure on AWS or similar platforms.
• Strong monitoring, observability, and incident management skills.
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash); comfortable with PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
• Security/compliance experience including SOC 2.

Responsibilities

• Establish and improve SLIs/SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and platform health.
• Build, operate, and optimize scalable cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code.
• Improve observability and incident management across services.
• Improve on-call procedures, postmortems, and prevention of incidents.
• Automate deployments, remediation, infrastructure management, and capacity planning.
• Scale the VETRO FiberMap platform with performance tuning for databases, queues, and services.
• Develop platform tools to enable CI/CD, deployment safety, and self-service for engineers.
• Apply security best practices and support SOC 2 readiness.
• Leverage AI/automation to accelerate troubleshooting and reduce toil.
• Monitor cloud spend and optimize cost efficiency.
