Job summary

VT Group (VTG) seeks an experienced SQL Systems Engineer to manage a large Windows/SQL infrastructure supporting 1000+ users. You will administer AD, deploy servers, and automate with PowerShell, VB, and C#, driving modernization toward cloud-ready architectures.

Responsibilities include Tier 2–4 troubleshooting, SQL Server administration, imaging, updates, and documentation, with a Top Secret Clearance and a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred). This is an on-site role in Herndon, VA.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 11 years of experience in systems engineering or enterprise Windows/SQL environments
• Top Secret Clearance with Polygraph required
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Strong experience with Windows Server OS versions 2008 R2 to 2019
• Expert knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP administration
• Strong experience with SQL Server environments and SCCM
• Proficiency in PowerShell, VB, and C# scripting
• Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in teams

Responsibilities

• Manage user accounts, group policies, and Active Directory services across enterprise domains
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and enterprise applications across multiple environments
• Provide Tier 2–4 troubleshooting for system, server, and network issues
• Perform SQL Server administration and support within enterprise environments
• Develop and maintain system images, build, manage, and deployment processes
• Configure and deploy software updates and patches to enterprise user groups
• Troubleshoot and resolve server, network, and system performance issues
• Develop and maintain PowerShell, VB, and C# scripts for automation
• Research, design, and support engineering solutions for updates and hotfix distribution
• Monitor enterprise infrastructure and implement changes with minimal end-user impact
• Create and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and enterprise standards
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify issues, evaluate solutions, and implement improvements
