Job summary

place is seeking a senior engineering leader to transform a newly acquired SQL Server environment into a hardened, automated, and observable platform. You will collaborate with engineering, analytics, finance, and leadership to safeguard availability, recoverability, and performance at multi-terabyte scale in a 24x7 production setting.

You will own availability and disaster recovery, implement Always On, log shipping, backups, and automation with PowerShell, T-SQL, Python, and IaC.

Qualifications

10+ years in production database engineering with 24x7 ownership.
Proven ability to perform restores under pressure.
Expertise in SQL Server 2016+ with Always On and replication.

Responsibilities

Own availability, recoverability, and performance for all SQL Server platforms.
Operate Always On, failover clustering, log shipping, and replication.
Lead incident response and DR planning including annual DR exercises.
Maintain SSIS packages and SSRS reports, and build new T-SQL, SPs, and SSIS where needed.
Automate patching, index and statistics maintenance, integrity checks, backups, and environment refreshes via PowerShell, T-SQL, Python, or IaC tooling.
Build telemetry, alerting, and runbooks, and participate in a shared on-call rotation.
