Job summary

Vinsys Information Technology Inc is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator for a Federal client. This remote role requires US work authorization and GPO Public Trust vetting.

The candidate will administer SQL Server environments across on-premises and cloud, lead performance tuning, DR planning, and incident resolution, while ensuring security and compliance. Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of experience in SQL Server database disciplines with hands-on expertise.
• Proficiency in SQL, clustering, provisioning, backup/restoration, and security.
• Ability to work independently and communicate with staff and management.
• Preferred: professional SQL Server certification.

Responsibilities

• Create, configure, administer, and maintain standalone and clustered SQL Server databases.
• Diagnose database and application integration issues; lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and incident resolution.
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive health monitoring.
• Maintain high availability, backup/restoration, and disaster recovery capabilities; plan and validate recovery and failover procedures.
• Execute software upgrades, patching, server maintenance, and approved change requests.
• Maintain database security and compliance; support continuity-of-operations activities.
• Manage ServiceNow tickets through resolution and provide weekly activity reports.
• Establish administration standards, automation practices, and operational documentation.
