Job summary

SAIC is seeking a seasoned SQL Server Database Administrator to sustain, modernize, and secure enterprise databases for the DCSA One IT program at Quantico. The role focuses on administration, performance tuning, backup, and high availability across development, test, and production environments.

Ideal candidates hold an active TS/SCI clearance, a related degree, and 9+ years of experience with SQL Server 2019/2022 or Azure SQL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Nine or more years of experience. Four additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Three or more years of experience working as a SQL Server Database Administrator in a production environment.
• Active TS/SCI.
• IAT-II Certification (i.e., Security+ CE, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server (2019/2022/Azure SQL).
• Strong knowledge of SQL language for querying, scripting, and debugging.
• Experience with database backup, recovery, performance tuning, and high availability technologies.
• Familiarity with SSMS, Profiler, and monitoring tools (SolarWinds DPA, Redgate).
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively working with team members.

Responsibilities

• Administer SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments.
• Perform backups, index maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Monitor database health to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
• Analyze performance and implement query and index tuning recommendations.
• Collaborate with developers and IT staff to design efficient data models.
• Develop scripts to automate backups, deployments, and monitoring.
• Document configurations, SOPs, and maintenance schedules; generate performance reports.
