Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server in a government contracting environment in Philadelphia. You will oversee replication, backups, reporting services, and performance tuning while supporting virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V.

This role requires at least five years of SQL Server DBA experience, ability to manage multiple tasks, and familiarity with SDLC, change control, and data

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of SQL Server Database Administration experience.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
• Experience with VMware and Hyper-V visualization technologies.
• Experience with source/control, bug tracking, SDLC, and relational database integration.
• Ability to handle confidential materials.
• Comfort with and willingness to work in groups and individually on projects of varying size.
• Ability to document, explain, and present tasks and decisions.

Responsibilities

• Administering Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore procedures, Capacity Planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
• Migrating databases from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2016.
• Providing all aspects of basic systems administration support including planning, execution, testing, installations, and configurations of new hardware and software.
• Recommending/implementing solutions for SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement, deploy, and/or support Microsoft Technologies such as Visual Studio Framework, VB.NET, ASP, NET and Web Services.
• Support visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper‑V, creating and configuring virtual machines.
• Performing back ups of the web, application, and database servers according to policy; daily incremental and full weekly backups.
• Performing database activities such as monitoring, space management, and support, with extended hours when required.
