Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Senior Database Administrator at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will lead the planning and management of enterprise SQL Server environments, mentor colleagues, and ensure technology supports critical business systems.

You will analyze database systems, implement upgrades, and work with security teams to maintain SOX compliance while driving reliability and performance across Garmin's engineering, operations, finance, sales, and marketing functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/MIS or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with SQL Server.
• Proficient in SQL Server upgrades and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with SQL Server Always On.
• Strong communication skills in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing database systems and optimize objects.
• Configure and administer enterprise SQL Server environments.
• Ensure database security structures and SOX compliance.
• Create and maintain database objects (tables, indexes, views, procedures).
• Manage replication across networks and provide 24x7 on-call support.
• Mentor junior DBAs and lead incident troubleshooting.
