Job summary

Kemper is seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to lead architecture, administration, and optimization of enterprise SQL Server environments within a large P&C insurance setting. This role emphasizes high availability, security, and performance across on-prem and AWS/hybrid platforms.

The candidate will mentor DBAs, implement automation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical authority for Microsoft SQL Server databases, focusing on architecture, administration, performance optimization, security, and operational support.
• Design, install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain enterprise SQL Server environments across dev, test, staging, and production.
• Provide advanced administration for SQL Server technologies including Always On, Failover Cluster Instances, replication, SSIS/SSRS; ensure reliability and security.
• Develop and enforce architecture standards, baselines, procedures, and best practices for scalable DB environments.
• Lead performance tuning, workload analysis, indexing strategies, and query optimization; monitor and respond to capacity and availability issues.
