Job summary

Phaxis is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, and AWS. This role supports enterprise applications, ensuring performance, security, and high availability across on‑premises and cloud environments.

You will drive HA/DR, backups, tuning, and migrations, collaborate with infrastructure and development teams, and automate tasks with PowerShell and T‑SQL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in CS/IT or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Oracle Database administration.
• Hands-on experience managing databases in AWS (RDS, EC2, S3).
• Experience with SQL Server Always On, Failover Clustering, Oracle Data Guard, and DR planning.
• Advanced knowledge of T-SQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience in performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Experience implementing backup, recovery, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with Windows Server and Linux.
• Experience with database monitoring and administration tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Monitor health, performance, and availability; proactively resolve issues.
• Perform upgrades, migrations, and version upgrades.
• Implement HA/DR using SQL Server Always On, Failover Clustering, and Oracle Data Guard.
• Develop and optimize T-SQL and PL/SQL; create procedures and views.
• Tune performance, indexing, and execution plans.
• Design backup/recovery procedures for business continuity.
• Manage AWS-hosted databases (RDS, EC2, S3) and related services.
• Plan migrations between on-premises and AWS.
• Enforce security, encryption, access control, auditing.
• Automate tasks with PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL Agent.
• Collaborate with dev, infra, cloud teams for deployments.
• Maintain database documentation and standards.
• Participate in production support, incident response, on-call rotations.
