Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside seeks a staff supervisor for the speech therapy team, maintaining a daily patient caseload and supervising staff on complex cases. This role requires adherence to departmental standards and strong clinical leadership.

The position also coordinates swallowing services for the ALS Center, participates in in-service programs, and liaises with the Head and Neck Cancer Center to ensure optimal patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
• 5 years clinical experience, including 3 years of supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a patient caseload of at least 5 patients per day
• Evaluates patients according to departmental standards
• Counsels patients and/or families according to departmental standards
• Completes patient reports according to departmental formats and within specified time frames
• Completes daily and monthly statistics and billing records
• Supervises staff speech therapists for difficult cases
• Evaluates those cases that exceed the competencies of the staff therapists
• Prepares and executes in-service program for hospital staff
• Acts as liaison between the Speech Department and the Head and Neck Cancer Center
• Coordinates swallowing services for the ALS Center
• Establishes policies and procedures for swallowing evaluation and treatment services
